    • The technician advanced to level #4 testing, and he first consulted with the customer on all the repairs performed to fix the check engine light. The tech then hooked up his scanner and he checked for codes and code P0420 was present. The tech then kept the scanner hooked up and he monitored the 02 sensor signals, and he noted that intermittently the Bank #1 02 Sensor #2 signal was intermittently dropping down in the lean range at .1-.3 volts. The correct reading is for the sensor to consistently stay in the .7 volts range. The tech then hooked up his special set up that injects 7 pounds of pressure into the exhaust, and he used soapy water to test the exhaust for air leaks, and he found a major air leak at the Bank #1 Sensor #2. He also noted that on the scan tool the reading of the sensor seemed to respond slow as well. The tech recommends replacing the Bank #1 Sensor #2 02 sensor. He will then clear the code and the fuel trims with the scan tool. The tech will then perform an extended test drive to verify that code P0420 no longer sets.
    • INSTALL BANK #1 SENSOR #1 CLEAR CODES AND FUEL TRIMS. PERFORM EXTENDED TEST DRIVE TO VERIFY CODE P0420 NO LONGER SETS.
    • The tech retested the exhaust system and he found and repaired another small air leak. The tech then retested the system and the he verified the Catalytic Converter Monitor Ran and passed!
